Banging the drum of success in Darlington!
An international drummer, who also has over twenty years experience in the construction sector, has joined one of the UK’s fastest growing restoration and high level maintenance firms in Darlington.
Terry Jerrom, who is originally from London but has been living in Gainford, Darlington for the last 14 years, has taken up a new role at Stone Technical Services as contracts manager.
Stone recently announced plans to launch its specialist concrete repair department, Stone Refurbishment, which will create four new jobs and Terry has taken up the first of those new roles.
Terry has trained extensively and worked in the restoration sector since the 80s with leading companies in London and on the Grainger Town Project in Newcastle. At Stone Restoration, Terry will be responsible for developing the concrete and stone restoration side of the business, working on site and providing training schemes within Stone.
In his spare time Terry is a drummer with The Hyads, one of the biggest bands currently on MySpace with over 2.5 million plays of their songs in the last 18 months. The band has also had a number six hit in America and many of their songs have featured in films and on TV shows. As a drummer, Terry has shared stages with the likes of Primal Scream, the Stranglers and The View.
Stone Technical Services employs 27 staff at its headquarters in Darlington and also at its offices in Middlesex and in central London. The company plans to create around 6 new jobs in the next year and open more new regional offices.
As well as concrete repair and restoration, Stone specialises in all aspects of high level maintenance, lightning conductor installation and steeplejack services as well as restoration and masonry refurbishment projects on churches, museums, clock towers, castles, spires and historic buildings.
The company works all over the UK on a variety of high profile buildings such as St Paul’s Cathedral and Selfridges in London and for organisations such as English Heritage and the National Trust as well as for well known industrial clients such as INEOS Nitriles UK and Teesside Power Station.
Stone Refurbishment carries out concrete repairs and refurbishments such as erosion and fissure repairs, thermal imaging surveys and cathodic protection to structures like bridges, culverts, dwellings, shopping centres, car parks and listed buildings as well as providing specialist access systems, carbonation coating and façade cleaning.
Managing director, Dave Stone said: “Terry joins Stone at a very important time in the company’s growth and will be responsible for the initial development of Stone Restoration. He has an outstanding reputation in the sector bringing with him the ideal skills mix of being very hands-on as well as being experienced in managing contracts efficiently and to the highest safety standards.”
Terry added: “I have always had a real desire to concentrate my skills and experience in the area of historic building restoration and concrete repair and this opportunity at Stone is perfect for me. I am very much looking forward to growing the business and working with such a highly-motivated team who are so forward-thinking in their approach.”
